Whispering Words

by Torn Chorus

/

about

This song is about the 2-edged sword of modern technology and what it means for musicians.

As a musician these days, sometimes I feel like a bird perched on a branch, singing out loud, but never knowing who, if anyone, is listening.

New tech makes it easier than ever for a musician to record and produce their output, while social media, such as Facebook and YouTube, makes it supremely easy to distribute and broadcast.

The downside is that there’s now so much content online, it’s difficult to get heard above all the noise. In addition, we’re all suffering from information overload and it’s getting so hard to separate truth from fiction.

lyrics

I’m whispering words into the emptiness of air
I’m summoning all the force that Facebook lets me share
Sometimes words escape me, pay no heed don’t lose your hair
I’m whispering words and I believe that no-one cares
There’s glimmers of truth if you’re equipped to sort the crap
The trouble with some is that you can’t turn off the tap
They talk way too loud and make the air too thick to bear
I’m drowning in words and I believe that no-one cares
I’m whispering words, though I’ll never be heard
I’m whispering words in your ear, crystal clear
I’m sending my thoughts into the emptiness of air
Forming ideas for governments to hear
I’m making those sounds, singing out loud
Hoping that soon I will find, someone who’ll care
I’m whispering words, though I’ll never be heard
I’m whispering words in your ear
Crystal clear, crystal clear
Crystal clear, crystal clear
Make it clear, no-one hears
No-one will hear
