about

Wake up Call is the debut album from Torn Chorus, a musician based in New Zealand. Torn Chorus is the performing name of Franklin Davis, who writes the songs, plays all the instruments and records the tracks in his home studio in Mt Albert, a suburb of Auckland.
Wake up Call covers a range of different genres but is primarily based on guitar driven melodies, supported by keyboards and electronically generated drum tracks.
The album features the single, Chemistry, which expresses the artist’s view about how highly he prizes living in New Zealand.
“I generally start with a melody written on the acoustic guitar,” says Franklin, “then I layer additional acoustic tracks, electric guitar parts and keyboards, before adding the main and backing vocals”
“I write about the human experience, highlighting some of the challenges we face every day in our part of the universe,” he says. “My day job has given me the opportunity to travel extensively throughout the world and this has made me realize that we are especially privileged to live in a country like New Zealand, where we have a relatively clean environment, temperate climate, spectacular scenery and a small population. We need to do everything in our power to learn from the mistakes made by our predecessors and preserve this heritage.”
“I’ve had a close association with computers for the last 30 years and, over that time, I’ve developed skills with photo editing and graphic design programs. Recently, this has evolved further into video editing, music recording and mixing software, giving me the opportunity to record and mix my own tracks, create music videos and design cover artwork.
“I ‘ve always had a keen interest in photography so this dovetails neatly with the video work. I feature some of my favourite images on my website, www.tornchorus.com, along with links to the music tracks and videos.”
